Jenna's TV Show Fan fiction reviews

Two and Half Men
Mother Again

I found this rather entertaining as it did sound like something that could happen on Two and a Half Men. However some of the dialog did not sound like something Charlie's character would say of showing concern for his brother Alan. Some parts of the scene were also not quite right for example, Charlie cooking breakfast would not happen on the show as he has never or even know's how to. It did however sound very similar to the actual episode where the main event/plot of Judith getting pregnant does happen. As for the ending it would have been nice to go into more detail and carry the story on about Charlie having a daughter to a supermodel . As this is a major story line having Charlie commit to something in his life. Other than those criticisms, I enjoyed it and would have liked to see it on the show.

Greys Anatomy
Nice Day for a White Wedding

I thought this was an amazing script. Something I really think would have worked on Greys Anatomy for bringing in Addison's character in a different way. As for Alex's character of being a total sleeze was captured here greatly. For Izzy, Meredith and George's small speaking parts being introduced, this showed the close relationships between their characters. To have Alex and Addison as a pair, not that it specified that they were going to be a pair; but with just about every other combination having been done, it was a nice change. The dialog was quirky, fitted with the characters personalities and made me laugh. Overall I really liked it and would follow up on more of this person's fanfic.

Desperate Housewives

Wow this was a long one. It was so intense and felt real through out that I wanted to read the whole thing. It follows similar to the actual story line, but with a twist and a different outcome because of this. You get a real feel for the characters and how they are connected with each other emotionally just like on the show. I could picture the scenes and the women of Wisteria Lane very vividly with how the spread of their gossip travels, so the writer really captured this. At the end it was a great touch to have the use of a Monologue, as Desperate Housewifes always has a life lesson to be learnt with each episode. So a very well done piece.

Ghost Whisperer

Great choice of discriptive language to create the scenes and the atmosphere with the temperate in the room for example. The story line was really interesting and original with following the similar patterns of each episode; starting with Melinda having someone from the otherside contact her and she then has to help them move on. I was able to picture the scenes and thought it had a very convincing storyline for the show. I would have liked it to go on longer as I was just starting to get really into it and wanted to find out what happens in the end.

Ugly Betty

What a great fantasy story. However just a tad too corny for me as I had to turn away and laugh.
They did use an interesting way to create the scenes, by saying what songs were playing in the background at the time. I still however couldn't quite picture Daniel and Betty together so it didn't work for me. But what they achieved by creating this awkward vibe between the two characters and about how they felt about each other almost made it work.

The Mentalist
Life or Death

Ohh I really liked this storyline, I was fully enthused and captured the whole way through.
Really well done with depicting the characters, especially Jane's with his very unusal manner.
They created a great dialogue with tension and friendly banter between the two main characters Jane and Lisbon. The use of jargon terms once on the murder scenes was well done.
If this was to be showing on TV, I would make sure I was to watch it as you are left knowing that something big is about to happen.

Shortland Street
Postmortem

As there were very limited options for Shortland Street. This one being the best, however just a bit to much of a fairytale. It is up to date with the actual storyline present and deals with issues the character currently faces. Sophie character is still young but very mature for her age, so the dialog used has portrayed this. As well as showing how Sophies character is feeling after all she has been through. Daniel's character I would say is less mature as Sophie's, so in that regard im not sure if he would be able to comfort her in the way described. Also the title "Postmortem" is not really relevent and only makes it sound very corny when used in the last word of the dialog. If another word was used It would of made a difference in the story.

Big Bang Theory

There appears to be a common trend for all the fan fictions for the BBT, to put together the two most unsuitable characters that it just makes me cringe when I read. This one however was marginal and the dialog was the best I've read. Sheldon's character was just right with his funny intellectual way he speaks. At the start I did not not think it was necessary for Penny's character to be indecently dressed. This just made the storyline fall through by not taking Sheldon's situation seriously. The storyline could have possibly worked on the show. However I would of made Sheldon's character show more embarassment for having to ask of something from someone else, as he likes to assume the role of having knowledge of all things. So overall the storyline wasnt the best but the dialog was very well done.

Fringe

I stuggled to find any really decent fan fictions which had a great storyline with a gruesome unusual mistery for the characters to solve. This storyline followed an example of an invention that Walter made and they managed to capture his character well, detailing his mannerisms and dottery ways. They also briefly showed the relationships between Peter and his dad Walter and Peter and Olivia. I would have really liked to have a storyline with a great mistery, however it would take someone with a great imagination to compete with the usual Fringe episodes. I found it a bit boring if I compared it to the actual show, but it was a nice try.

Scrubs

This was by far one of the best fan fictions I have read. They showed such real raw emotion through the script, which gave the setting an ambience of great sadness. Reading the narrative dialog shown in italics, I can image it being said in the scenes with the camera paning around the hospital with a sad melody playing in the background. The character of Dr Cox was portayed correctly as his dialog was perfect. The other minor characters were also well illustrated. The written layout and theme of the story was excellient, something made for a short story or novel. It even made me want to cry at the end as we discover it was JD who had died. I thought that the script was so well written, that if Scrubs was to end or JD's character was to be written out this should really be their final episode.
